Somehow, the skill of critical thinking has lost fashion. We seem to have become a mass of willingly uninformed, blissful ignorants who want nothing more than to be told what and how to think. Are our lives so complex in their detail, so burdensome in scope that we simply can not take on one more intellectual requirement? Has civilization simply topped out the mental capacity of the human brain, giving us so much minutiae to process that we find no inclination or desire to think for ourselves?

The thought that any physiologically unstable charismatic can woo a group of needy individuals to believe the twisted interpretations of a belief frustrates me no end. Those who, in using this persuasive power, perpetuate and encourage disdain, hate and violence against another group in an effort to maintain that power and continue the cycle. These "Chicken Littles", who repeatedly attempt to alarm the masses about how "the sky is falling", in regard to same sex partnerships. These warnings of foreboding have no bases in fact or sense, but seem to be solely based on the paranoid ravings of a church hierarchy. One that has gleaned its information from a poorly translated and continually misrepresented text, adhering to a belief system perpetuated by those in power, and used to maintain their status.
