We envision Berrien County as a fully
integrated community in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons
and their families are truly welcome, respected, valued, understood, and afforded the
same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.
Yes, indeed, we have a gay agenda for
Berrien County. Here it is:
Provide Support
Our support programs are designed to
foster whole and healthy lives for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and
allied persons within our community. We offer therapeutic support groups, skill-building
workshops, and referrals to other lgbt-affirming service providers throughout the county
where you can get emotional and morale support for who you really are.
Build Community
Our social programs are designed to keep
our LGBT and allied community well connected, including networking opportunities, clubs,
recreational gatherings, and social events where you don’t have to hide your orientation.
Make Alliances and Advocate for Change
We believe that living openly is the most
important step we can take toward helping our neighbors see that LGBT persons are already
an integral part of their lives. But we also offer educational programs and community
discussions that raise awareness, increase understanding, respond to homophobia, and
advocate for a healthy integration of lgbt families throughout all aspects of life in
Berrien County.
